Veta Hollaway Named Member of the Year

COLUMBIA, SC – September 2, 2007 – Each year, The Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board presents an award t= o an individual for their dedication and service to the regional tourism organization. This year’= ;s Member of the Year is Veta Hollaway, who demonstrated significant leadership and outstanding support to the Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board.

Veta Hollaway, owner of Birds By Veta, is a nativ= e of Columbia. She is a member of Lexington Network of Female Executives, Lexing= ton Chamber of Commerce, Lexington County's Herb Group, the Vista Guild and the West Vista Guild. Her bird sh= op, which opened in 1991, has won four national awards. She is a lifetime membe= r of The American Federation of Aviculture and received an AFA Avy award. She is a past board member of The International Avicultural Society, as well as, The Society of Parrot Breede= rs and Exhibitors. She writes fo= r Bird Talk magazine and other trade publications. She has spoken at several natio= nal bird conferences. She is acti= ve with the Columbia Sail Club and is married to Bob Hollaway.

This award was presented at the organization’s Annual Meeting, held August 23, 2007, at the Hilton Ga= rden Inn.
